Last of the Summer Wine

An Ode To Wesley The Mechanics Inspiration.

I have added the link to the posting that started this thread
I liked his humor and responded.

Now to more serious things.
There is only one great leader in the world and his name Wesley. For he is the word and only word.
When we the uninspired reach his level of dedication to overalls and tinkering we will have reached the heights of happiness.
Please no derogatory remarks about such a dedicate idol such as "looking and smelling like Wesley in 'Last of the Summer Wine'
For the unknowing search and watch the longest running sitcom in the world "Last of the Summer Wine"
For therein is light as the preacher Wesley will give to all oily' persons of ever description.
Long may engines and Wesley be synonymous with fire smoke and burning flat caps.

P.s. this is my early Christmas contribution.

Last of the Summer Wine is what the title says. I've reached the state( in more ways than one) of a being part of a nice bumbling ancient  set of characters.
I've even stayed in the Huddersfield hotel where the cast used to hang out. It was pure accident but I felt the gentle humour had lingered.

Of course Cleggie is the voice over for Wallace and Gromit. Compo( Bill Owen) loved the place so much that it is now his final resting place.

The newspapers are ready laid on the floor  to admit me ( or is it Wesley) into the family abode dominated by Dame Thora Hird( or is it my wife)?

Maybe you will be want to pursue Howard's sexual fixation-the lovely Marina- or Britains answer to E-Bay - Auntie Wainwright but few will not enjoy and perhaps find 'someone they know' in it.

Such is British humour or is it just being 'Us'?

What you have to remember Dave, that this is a British site, and as such, you will come across a lot of our own humour at times, and maybe you will have trouble understanding or even recognising it, as we do trying to understand US humour.

Like my Wallace and Gromit infatuation (my avatar), I can't get enough of it.

I've watched that show several times. Very enjoyable and classic.
I'm a big fan of several British sitcoms and there are more than a few that will cause me to stop, watch, relax and enjoy.
Carl (aka Zee) Will sometimes respond to 'hey' but never 'hey you'.

Now I'm convinced the ABC has no funny bone, They list it under the genre of "Drama"

I recall this, as near as I can quote

Wesley: "Howard, get yerself a decent obsession! In my case it'd be a 1934 Triumph Gloria"

All we're trying to do is combine a fuel and an oxidant in the combustion chamber and burn it in the hope of getting some useful thrust out of the back end. It's not rocket science.
