Hi Jim , Yes ..i have been dismantling stuff for 60 years .my favourite things were bomb site computers still have loads of bits i have never used ...sorry no videos then of course   !!!

Some of the large photocopy machines used to have stainless steel rods, which machined almost like brass. I wonder, what grade of stainless steel is that?

I have one dead Samsung laser printer, which is just sitting on the corner waiting for dismantling. Again another side project, but I'm sure that it also has some nice stainless steel rods in it.

Another place/thing to get parts from is old(now days if you can find them)VHS recorders,springs screws, motors, and my prize, bearings. even 3/4 mm ones in the nylon guide spindles. Micro wave ovens for magnets in the magnetron, and the transformer. On a lot of stuff there is a steel case, a sheet of steel is always not there when you need it.

I too have accumulated a lot of material from printers, and I have to admit that it is not as useful as expected, except of course the nice and famous polished metal bars, (but that are not always rustless!).

I have recycled an engine as a generator to test and animate my engines a little, but also simply to prove that I was right to keep all that stuffs, but now I do have about twenty engines left....and not a single tiny voltmeter to integrate into this assembly, I do have to buy one !
