Dave,

Those files look good.  Can you confirm a couple of things for me.

What is the diameter of the shank, I need to ensure will fit in the Excel clamp mechanism.  On the basis these are clamped below the table do the files all cut on the down stroke.

Cheers,

Colin

Hi Colin

I measured up 3 and got a range of 0.248" to 0.251"   (6.30mm to 6.375mm)  The shanks are soft.

They all cut on the down stroke

They are made by Nicholson, a pretty well respected file company in the day. and are die filer files, not modified hand files

Dave,

Thanks for that.  They will fit in the Excel clamp mechanism.  I made some small steel blocks and drilled them out to use chainsaw files.  I used Araldite to secure the files.

This works well, so could repeat if necessary for these.

OK   made a pivot support  and a clamp washer today....I had my daughter helping me on Samantha bell with the washer...she had fun

next is the over arm for top support and the work hold down finger.....then a nice coat of paint to match SB.

the overarm support is done, minus the thumb knob....I'll get to it

Now to make the hold down.   I've come up with a very simple design, and I'll get on it tomorrow I think

I know  Pictures
