Hi from the "Southern Highlands" Australia
« on: May 30, 2019, 01:33:01 AM »
Hi Folks,
My name is Gary and I have joined this forum to gain valuable knowledge on all things concerning model engines. Like a lot of people here I'm currently building a "Stuart Beam Engine" and a couple of Bengs Modellbau steam engines.
I started life many, many, many years ago as a Fitter and Machinist at a large steel works. (great for building scale steam engines) but recently have retired, so I now have more time for model engineering.
I also have a HO scale model railroad layout, so you can see I'm kept busy.
If you guy's are interested I have just started build videos on my YouTube channel (creepy013) of the "Stuart Beam Engine" and I could start a build topic on this forum, please let me know.
Regards
Gary

Welcome Gary......whilst never employed directly by that large Steelworks, spent many latter years involved in Contracting roles [my Fitting & Machining apprenticeship was down the road at Metal Manufactures]

I did not know of Bengs, until they started stocking the work of Winfried Niggle...however would be interested to hear which of Bengs kit/work you are currently undertaking

Derek [as you see, Wollongong]  .................we also have a few of your neighbors who are also members of our Illawarra Live Steamers

Derek thanks,
I believe I was a member of the Illawarra Live Steamers in 1970, as I was building a traction engine (long gone) not sure if it was the same name.
The Bengs I have are "Donatus", (pic1)  "Sophie" (pic2) and "Leni" (Pic3)
I have been concentrating on the "Stuart" which I have started a full video blog on my YouTube channel, I will start a link on this site.
The Bengs will follow the Stuart
Regards
Gary

Welcome to the forum!
Those are beautiful engines you've done there!
