dethrow55 Would you like to make an introduction post so that the members can learn more about your interest in model engine making.

you may prefer a boring and facing head, as described by AJ Lofquist in Model Engineer  in 1989 issues  -3851-3877, 14 issues in fact, only in the odd figures

Geo H Thomas published a design for a boring head in the Model Engineer circa late '70's, sorry don't have reference handy.  It will also appear in one or other of his published books of workshop tool designs.  I think that Hemmingway market a material pack for this design, but it can be made from suitable steel sections in any case.  GHT went into very helpful blow by blow detail of the machining sequence and process to make this 'head in his articles, very helpful to many builders.  This is my example which has been most useful to me over the years.   Dave

Hi

I don't want to disuade you or anyone for that matter who likes to make their own tools but when I looked into making one I found the commercial ones were so cheap that it was hardly worth the effort.

For example

0763741756239  on ebay

£48.00 and comes complete with a 9 piece boring bar set

Cheers

Rich
