Clutch Pulley for IHC Mogul/Famous
« on: May 12, 2019, 07:38:54 PM »
Hello,

I'll start a new thread on the topic, because otherwise it could go down in the IHC Famous Thread.

I saw a clutch pulley in this video, which I like very much.

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yi5LrlI2Jn4" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yi5LrlI2Jn4</a>

Here I have found more pictures of the model.

https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/modelsteam/ihc-mogul-1-4-scale-side-shaft-engine-model-t86816.html

There is talk of a Mr. Sam Harman. Unfortunately I did not find anything.

Since I have not found any further information from the clutch, just a few pictures on Ebay, I have started to draw the clutch Pulley myself.
I am not sure if it really looks and works like this.

Maybe someone else has more information or pictures for me.
I am also interested in drawings by Mr. Sam Harman or contact him or YouTube's "reddrryder".

Thank you, greetings Toby

Nice engine Toby, and very interesting clutch mechanism. If you would like to share, please send me your 3d model of the clutch as a .step file or a .x_t Parasolid file to brupnow@rogers.com  I might try and build one of those. If you don't wish to share, I understand.. Brian Rupnow

Hello and good morning.

I was able to reach Sam Harman and Gil (Redrdryder) by e-mail.
Unfortunately, Sam Harman has no drawings of the clutch.
He just sent me two pictures.
I would have liked to get pictures of the parts, especially from the outer pulley, from the back side.

Hello,

I have revised the clutch Pulley a bit.
The levers that hold the clutch jaws are now fully guided.
This meant that the clutch shoe holders had to be changed.
The handwheel now looks a bit better.
I hope it is so much better.

Unfortunately, I did not get any further information or pictures on request from Sam Harman and Reddrdryer.

Hello,

In the last weeks my father started with the clutch.
Yesterday I was able to help him mill the sprockets of the pulley.

Hello,

Here are a few more pictures of the clutch.
So slowly is it going on.
It's really amazing what my dad makes of my idea.

Hi Toby, slow progress is still progress.

It is coming along beautifully.  You and your dad are a great team.

Hello everybody.
In recent days, the spokes were soldered to the hub, the coupling jaws finished and all parts powder-coated.
I think the result is ok.
It still lacks the handwheel, which is currently still 3D printed.

Hi,
Here is a little video about the function of the clutch pulley.
It works as it should.
I'm very proud of what my father built.

A great implementation of the clutch, you are entitled to be proud.  It does not seem that long ago that you were trying to understand how it should work.

That video really shows the effect of loading the engine on the number of firing strokes as you try and stop the pulley by hand.  It looks like the engine has enough torque to drive something interesting.

Toby,
That's a really cool clutch. I like the simplicity of the design.
