Wow, that Oliver! Did it run?

The Oliver does run and the transmission is fully functional.  Sounds great.

Wow, that Maserati (if I made out the plaque correctly) is awesome. Who is the craftsman?
Any idea what the 5-cylinder radial is & builder? Head looks different than the usual ones I'm familiar with.

That particular Maytag engine was scratch built by Ron Colonna. He is a past Craftsman of the Year winner and his work is outstanding.

Thanks George. I had a chance to buy one, full size, a while back and waited 5 minutes too long. It was in running condition too.

The Maserati builder is Fiore Di Bernardo.
The Kinner (5 cylinder radial) belonged to the fellow sitting right next to me. He found it on Craigslist and bought it for a very reasonable price.A Kinner construction article appeared in Strictly I.C. around 1994, but this does not appear related. The crankcase and cylinder heads are either cast or machined beautifully to appear so. I listened to a lot of conversations about it over the course of the show, and concluded that it is quite possibly one-of-a-kind. The owner said he had taken off one head and seen evidence that it had once been a runner. By all appearances, it could once again be a runner. A really fine model.

Tim,
Thanks for the photos. Steve had some photos in the other thread I thought I'd follow up on. Chris Dinardo has done some incredible work in the past. Here is one of my favorites.

I stuck a quarter in the photo for scale, I took most of my photos on Friday while I wasn't busy talking to folks and there wasn't such a crowd. The engine that Steve showed I seem to have the same side, presumably I wasn't lazy and there was someone standing on the other side, This is the V8 Steve showed. The water pump is an impeller pump and he also has a temp gauge.

Brian thanks for the Postimage tip this is like using *****bucket before they went stupid. It was good to see you and make a connection with someone from the forum. Tim, I also talked with the gentileman with the Kinner K5. There was at least one K5 made to the Strictly IC plans, also there are two sets of plans in SIC, 1/4 and 1/6 scale markedly different from Tims photo. This is one of them.

I think I will load more photos later.

Very interesting. yes, I thought had that Kinner look about it but very different (much more scale like) head & even crankcase details over the SIC editions. So obviously casting skills there.
Once upon a time there were some castings based on the SIC 1/5? scale (I think it was called JZ-5) Kinner, which was a glow version of the 1/4 scale ignition Kinner, also SIC. But I never saw any engines made from them. Maybe related or maybe a completely different effort. Nice nonetheless.

The builder is Rich Dosdall of Hastings, Minnesota. He has a video up about his tractor in which he talks about building the tractor. He also starts it up and demonstrates the transmission.

I forgot to mention that Rich's half sized 1655 Oliver is featured in the current issue of Home Shop Machinist as well. I haven't had the chance to sit down and read the article just yet, but I've got it on the list for this evening.

Hi folks, I have had some time to sit down to post a few more photos. This week has been busy some meetings & appointments meant I needed to work today to make up time at work.

Here are a few engines built by Ron Clark

Here's some of George's work, nickle there for scale!

Quarter for scale here.

I think my coach is turning into a pumpkin so I'm going to give it a rest now and post some more tomorrow.
