Finger Engine
« on: May 20, 2019, 07:18:10 PM »
I built this finger engine as a prototype of an optional project for our University Machine Shop students
It is based on the NEMS design, as updated by Kaje.
The flywheel is my own design cut on our CNC Milling machine.
It is difficult to come up with designs that will hold a student's interest long enough that they will complete them!

That's great Scott. I know what you mean about holding their interest, but this should do it I think. Simple enough to do, but interesting enough to see it through as well. The CNC pArt will help too, even it they only push the "go" button. Anything to do with computers is a plus these days!!

Thanks!
It is a shame to see the interest in building things dropping off.
We do our best to educate our students with hands-on work, but a lot of them would rather 3D print everything.
Where are our next model engineers going to come from?
