1/2 scale Domestic Stovepipe hit & miss
« on: October 28, 2012, 07:23:52 PM »
I covered most of the build of this engine over on HMEM and as its now about to go to its owner I thought a few pictures of the finished engine may be of interest.

First some shots of the various parts

And a Coke can to get an idea of sizes

The finished engine, the guy I made it for will do the painting and mount it on a cart.

It still needs some fine tuning but here is a short video of it running, sounds a bit noisy as the silencer is not fitted. At the moment it won't run for much over 60secs, just needs some time spending playing with the timing, fuel mixture and exhaust lift.

Thanks Jason for posting it, I had follow you building it, but not the completed part and video. Great job on it as usual. And a learning thread to boot.

That's awesome.  Do you have an idea of the engin's weight?

Looks nice. Does the oiler on the splash guard just produce a drip which gets wiped off by the big end as it goes past?

Thanks for all the kind words.

Vince it weighs in at 42Ibs (19kg)

Jonesie, Not many for sale this was a commision, the guy was looking for someone to build a couple of engines, the IHC Famous I covered on HMEM was the other.

Ian, the end of the tube is a bit too high for the drip to be picked up by the crank, just drops and hopefully lands where its needed.

Awesome. A lot of intricate parts too. Very appealing visually.
