Question for Jing JCS-900 DRO users
« on: March 29, 2019, 02:06:05 PM »
my question is pertaining to bolt hole setup. I am not quite sure how to phrase the terminology but everything goes fine until it displays the first hole. The numbers are correct but decimal appears to be in the wrong place. It will show (example) .1870 and I think it should show .0187 because when I try to zero the value out it moves about an 1" away from where it should be.
I think the problem is in the decimal location. I have it set for 4 places, only other choice is 5 places.
Thanks in advance,
Julian

Is this a new DRO setup? If so have you set it up for the correct resolution scales?

Do the readouts work OK when just moving the table when in normal measuring mode or is it the same all the time?

I have had it for a few months but this is the first time I have tried the Bolt Circle function,
I have the resolution set for .5, and the scales work fine using normal X,Y and Z movements.

I would think there should be some way to set it for 3 decimal places but I have not been able to find it.

If it is working OK for general use then that rules out what Jo was thinking as it should read the same units all the time.

I assume you entered a 0.375 diameter for the PCD and the first hole is suggesting you move 0.1870 which is a bit odd as with 5 decimal places they usually show 0.18740 or 0.1874 if 4 decemal places.

Wonder if you have set your resolution to 0.5 thou rather the 5 microns eg 0.005mm

Jasonb,No option for thou, just micron.
But it's Global and would effect all functions

In that case have you really got .5 micron scales? usually supplied with 5 micron as standard but as you say should affect everything.

Jasonb,
You got me on the right track!  I went back and checked the setup parameters and I did have .5um plugged in instead of 5um.

Appears to be working correctly now, I just have to get used to an extra digit!!
