Rich,

do You have any means of centering the 4 jaws on the RT from the bottom?
I mean, If You had a wp. in the 4jaws already machined on the lathe You want to move to the RT without disturbing the setup, You could align the RT with the mill spindle before fitting the 4jaws.

As for quickly aligning the RT with the mill, I'm (now) using a ruler held between a pointed rod in the mill spindle and a lathe TS center set in the RT taper: it does better for me than the center drill in the RT insert. Of course, precision works ask for use of DTIs on the RT first, and then the wp.

This is a fitting job,
not a production job that can be measured in.

Hi

Thanks Don, dave, GBritnell, Jim K, Marcello.

Marcello, the plan is I can can fit the threaded adapter to the RT and transfer chuck and workpiece from the lathe without disturbing it.

Cheers

Rich
