R.I.P. Chuck Fellows
« on: March 10, 2019, 03:47:53 PM »
I just saw that Chuck Fellows passed in late February. I will miss the great engines he made available to our hobby. I had the pleasure of speaking to him when I needed some help with one of his engines. He will be missed by many.   Thank You Chuck.

Dave, thank you for passing along this sad news. Like many here, I have followed all of Chuck's projects and builds. He was a huge asset to this forum, and to the hobby in general. He will be missed greatly here, but fortunately his legacy will live on in the pages of MEM. Rest in peace Chuck.

That Sux!

Chuck was a great member and a great contributor to this forum. Very generous with his knowledge and work. We could all try to be a little more like him. He and other members like him make this forum the great place that it is.

Rest In Peace Chuck.

R.I.P Chuck.
Although our hobby is not one of the bigger ones, Chuck helped to make it great with his well thought out designs and pleasant demeanor.
He will live on through our archives, and I'm sure there will be many more of his designs built.

I'm deeply saddened to hear the news, even after he initially shared this with us.

Chuck was a genuine diamond in the model engineering community, he responded to just about every comment on his many builds & was always more than happy to help anyone out. As mentioned by everyone here, he was a genuine man who freely shared his talent with everyone.

Always the inventor & innovator, his air powered engines with his slave valve & rotary valve designs brought a whole new way of designing & building model engines, & those engines lived up to the original, right down to the popping sound of his John Deere, Fairbanks Morse, V8, & most recently, the Maudslay/Fellows Marine engine, amongst every other project Chuck worked on...

Not to mention his gear cutting fixture, carb design, die filer, solenoid engines, & any other project he laid his hands on & knew in his mind how he could improve it...

A word that resonates in my head in Chucks posts..."Elegant", I think Chuck was an "Elegant" engineer in life, & applied that to everything he did, his projects, & everyone he touched.

We're going to miss you Chuck.

My deepest condolences to the family & his many friends,

 John McClelland

RIP Chuck

I have learned a lot from him and he treated me with utmost courtesy and enthusiastic support when I started this hobby and began posting on these forums. I still have some projects of his to build and some ideas he planted in my brain for other future projects.

If his family is following these posts I can understand the loss of a family member to a horrible disease having had to deal with that kind of loss multiple times myself. Know that we respect not only Chuck and his contributions but the contributions you may have made by letting him spend so much time and energy in his shop and in helping and supporting us here on these forums.

Since I read that Chuck had given his shop equipment to his sons I've been dreading this.

There are 6 or 8 people on this list I have the fantasy of meeting face to face while someday visiting their shops. Just stop by while traveling through town. Chuck was on this list. I will miss his posts and the fantasy of meeting him in person.
