Duclos Gearless
« on: March 09, 2019, 01:59:34 AM »
Even though quietly reading the mail in the background I am still getting some time in the shop.  I've always admired the designs of Phil Duclos and in particular the vertical gearless.  Here is my version.  Guess I'll need to decide if it gets some paint now that it actually runs.

This was a particularly good build for me i.e., no 'spare' parts  ;)  It runs pretty well now that I've found the sweet spot for the needle valve.  It is very sensitive and I was going through center at the speed of light when trying to adjust it in the beginning.

Hopefully the video link works ... never done that before!

Cheers

Not an engine that I've seen before, but one I may like to try in the future. Your version is beautifully made and runs great.  Thank you for posting.

Very nice example of a gearless engine. I was so intrigued by how they managed to get a 2:1 reduction for the valve without gears that I actually gathered enough information to make up  one of the gearless systems, just to see how it worked.---Brian
