I suspected that the HF was not what I need. Probably go to Lowes or Home Depot or Costco.
Probably time to get one.

I've got a half hour of run-time on the generator...but a couple of cars I can steal from.
Fridge is empty...hoping the kids make a run soon.
Full bottle of vodka and some cocktail onions.
So I'm either going to be okay...or won't care.

Oh! Just checked the TP...we're good.
Even have backup paper towels.

If I have a choice...I'll take rising water and no power over the tornados I dealt with back home.

Yes...that's the way to do it. Siphon to can and then pour into generator.  ;D

No worries. I have the generator. Neighbor has the snowblower.
If he has gas, I'll have gas.

Have you tried to siphon gas out of a modern car Zee?.....It's not really possible...they've put things in to prevent that....

STORM DAMAGE!
« Reply #24 on: October 28, 2012, 01:52:48 AM »
It is past Florida now but not without taking a bit of me.  I was in the shop yesterday and heard the winds building so I went out to move my car out from under the trees so a limb wouldn't fall on it.  When I opened the shed door, the wind snatched it out of my hand and blew it against the chain limiter so hard it ripped half of the hinges out of the door.  It is a substantial door with six hinges but it is also 5 1/2 feet wide.  It is set so that the prevailing west winds tend to blow it closed but these winds were easterly and took me by surprise.  Its a good thing the rains hadn't started.  It took me about an hour to get the door in a condition that I could jam it shut and brace it closed and I barely beat the rains.

Glad that it isn't any worse than that. Why is it when you get prepared for things like this it always seems like they have to throw you a curve ball. Hopefully the sun will be shining in a coupe of days and you can get it fixed proper.

Cheers

Well, the latest track shows it loopingin a direct path to me. Spent the day moving anything loose (patio screen house, outdoor furniture, flowerpots, etc) into the house. Filled the car, charged the iPad, Macbook, iphone and their attendant external battery packs.
Bathtub filled with water. Food and single malt stocked. Propane bottles for the Coleman lantern. Everything off the shop floor and onto benches.
Fingers crossed.
Best,
Stan

Yep,  could have been a lot worse.  No limbs fell on the car, or the house, or the shed.

My wife went to the grocery store yesterday to stock up.  She came back with:

Pop-tarts
Oreos (double stuff)
Top Ramen
Pretzels
Chips
Canned soup
Canned chili

I love this woman!   :LittleAngel:
