Hi Guys - it's ok Per no prose tonight, I can see AS has true potential in that direction - ah I know my limitations  :D

But, I can say at last, it's journeys end ...

Here finally is an assembled engine. Very pleased with the make up - just the merest fettling on the big end that was just scraping the case wall.  Piston fits are very good, two of them particularly so, so well pleased in that direction.

The ratchets were 'blackadised' using Jenolite 'Cold Black' - I bought that via my works about 1985 - some shelf life eh?  :o

Together with it's smaller brother - a Russian made version of the original 2.5cc

And yes I did get three engines after all Bill  ;)

And yes - of course I did  :)

All three engines proved extremely easy to start - if I can get the video loaded you will see exactly what I mean with the second one tried :o (I'm having difficulty trying work out how to get the file uploaded into the editor)  After half a dozen flicks with a 12 x 5 prop however the first engine started in that characteristic Oliver way - backwards - but from then on all three behaved impeccably so I'm well chuffed with the result. They all have a lovely note and a super 'crack' when the compression is backed off.

As said though it's journeys end so to coin a phrase 'that's all folks'

Hope you've enjoyed the journey

Can you make a YouTube account and post the video there. Hearing the engine running will be the icing on the cake.

Thanks for the build, always enjoy following along.

When building three engines is there a temptation to make small variations between them such a slight differences in porting or timing of the crank to see which runs best or as they are not going to be put to work do you just stick with all three the same?

Hi guys, thanks for taking time to comment  :)

Neil, I am trying to edit the video I took to do just that. I do have some videos of some engines made on YouTube - a search for RFW 423 should find it.

Bill P  - good to see you looking in - hope you are still modelling :)

Bill L - you too, I have to say a feel a mite wore out on three - if there are any others they'll definitely be a one off!

Thanks for the endorsement Jo, much can be said about your own posts

Art, Thomas - thanks for your comments, much appreciated

Jason, I did consider it when making the liners but decided against it at this stage so all three are identical. It would certainly be a worthwhile exercise as some time to open the transfer ports and improve flow in certain areas but now the project is over not that likely to happen I guess :-\

Well that's it guys, for those that do, my thanks for taking the time to comment. It takes a lot of time to post - you've had well over a hundred images not to mention the sorting before posting. Couple that with text and that's a fair bit of time gone. Time is something that's fast becoming an ever dwindling resource so don't expect too much in the future.

That's it - I'm outta here - Ol Tug :old:

Thanks Jim, much appreciated but when I see what you achieve I know I'm only scratching the surface  ::)

Wonderful craftsmanship Jim absolutely the best  :praise2: :praise2:

Next project ? - well I have that Corliss to finish but I'm going to take a bit of a break before getting back into that. No other model aircraft engines are planned at this stage but one never knows  ;)

Hugh - Nice to see you've looked in, thanks for your kind comment.  Hope you are doing okay.
