I was thinking perhaps a Ray Hasbrouck twin oscillator.     Perhaps scaled to have the parts fit.

I must be stupid as this is totally lost on me. All I can see is water and bubbles in  bottle.

Perhaps it’s generating CO2 to drive an engine without the compressor noise, or acetylene for a hit and miss.

I am with you Robert.  I suspect an “in” joke, but I am on the outer?

Nope...you saw correctly, just an new emptied and clean bottle.   I was floating an idea to perhaps generate conversation about the subject line.

I wonder if you could do a hot air engine in a bottle?

That would be a challenge.  I think the waste heat issue would make that challenging to say the least.   I was thinking perhaps something more attainable like an occillator running on compressed air.

Dave,
I am building a kit engine right now with tiny slotted screws which are a pain not in a bottle, I am thinking that Allen head cap screws will be the simplest to assemble with in a bottle. What is the size of the opening?

I remember seeing a small oscillating engine jn the science museum london that would have fit through the neck of that bottle!

Building one that is bigger inside that at least looks like it  none of it would fit through the neck is the problem.

What about self assembly parts of brass plate with embedded miniature magnets ?  A carefully finish pair of plates can be attached with almost no obvious joint , so a large base could be made from smaller pieces.

Similarly, just as large steam-engine flywheels are made in section a small one could be made to almost self assemble with magnetic sections.

The oscillating cylinder could pivot on magnet  etc.etc.
