Commercial spring winder by FlexBar
« on: January 22, 2019, 12:05:05 AM »
Hi All,

I was watching in interest at the spring winder build to a Hemingway kit.    Great looking tool!    Problem was it was over there  ( Great Britain) and I'm over here!  ( USA), and with shipping the kit was $57 as of this writing....a bit pricey for 14 hours of labor to get a tool...so I hunted around, and I found FlexBar Machine Corporation.

Flexbar makes Universal Spring winder and which can be purchased through Penn Tool for $89...so $32 more than the kit...but it's done, complete, and with a nice instruction sheet for use.

Well   I bought it.   It came tonight, and I must say it was made nice and seems to have everything described in the Hemingway kit.   I'll be making springs soon enough, and I'll try it out and fill you all in.

Nice looking piece Dave. Anxious to see how it works out. It's got to be better than eyeballing the distance between coils.

I suspect there will be some "Fingertip Technology" to learn to do it well....

Interesting  I had a quick scribble... it looks simple enough to make

Looking forward to hearing how easy it is to use Dave.
