A couple of years ago, my view of the world took a smack in the face, causing me to loose interest in many of the things that I had enjoyed. That appears to be changing and the future is looking brighter. As a result of that I am putting my shop back in operation.
Part of that process is finding a project that I can get my teeth into and have some chance of getting it finished. While cleaning things up, I was fiddling with some of my old engines. One of my favorites is a little single cylinder overcrank engine of my own design. Nothing fancy. It has no prototype. It was just an exercise in design, techniques, and procedures that worked out.
I logged into MEM to see how things were going and was not surprised to see that as usual, there are a lot of really interesting topics and I have a lot of catching up to do. One of the first threads that caught my interest was John's Textile Mill Diorama. Not far into it, hanging from the beams overhead, was a slick little twin cylinder overcrank engine that I had seen before. It must have been the inspiration for my little engine!
This engine was modeled by Stew Hart almost ten years ago and he shared his plans and his build process on line and in print. A lot of people have used those plans to produce fine models.
I am seriously considering jumping in with an imperial version of this engine with modifications to suit my equipment and my skiils. OK?
