Tool-less for about a month now
« on: December 11, 2018, 12:24:40 AM »
It's been about a month since my boys cleaned out my shop.  Since then I've found new ways to enjoy what's left of my shop using simple hand tools and methods to make things.  Kind of takes me back to my younger days.  Here I'm building a cycloid harmonic drawing machine using an Arduino and stepper motors. 1/4 " plywood, zip ties, super glue and some 3D printed parts make it up.

Still having a lot of fun.
So many projects, so little time...

Great to hear Chuck. You are certainly multi-talented, with or without machine tools. Hope you are continuing to feel good as well!

Chuck,
Sounds like you are staying busy and having fun. I have to admit knowing next to nothing about arduinos, cept they can do more than I can understand. :wallbang:

It uses drawing arms with a pen at the vertex on one end and attached to rotating arms at the other end.  The arms can be made to rotate at different speeds.  The pen rests on a circular drawing table which also rotates at adjustable speeds.  The result is a drawing of random geometric patterns, kind of like a spirograph.

Good work Chuck. I reckon if all you had was drinking straws you would still come up with something exceptional. :praise2:

Hi Chuck,

I continue to be educated by you. I have just had to look up what an Arduino is! Think I understand now, but electronics will always remain a mystery to me. Can't wait to see your device in action.
Glad to see you are keeping yourself amused.
All the best
Ray
