Its going to be a very slow one  i  am afraid  as i live in London during the week in a mall flat  and  can only do noisy  metal banging stuff in the garage  at the weekend. plus the usual  costs  and then learning how to  do  bits on the lathe

Wow, a lot of bits in there. I am thinking about what to build next, will have to ponder how I could do this one using a small horizontal mill.

JDW's drawings show parts 1 and 2 as BMS and Al, is it one of each material for both parts?

I am assuming (Hoping ) that's a typo and making both 1 and 2 from 6 mm ally. I  am planning on slight changes  in that  the  bolts  i am planning on  polishing up and  bluing them   and adding a decorative brass washer to give some bling

I thought parts 1 and 2 are the large sheet metal parts that basically hold everything together.
Some people made them out of BMS (bright metal steel) and others made them out of aluminum.
But both would be made of the same material.

However, I believe they 3mm thick (not 6mm thick).

It will be interesting building the metric model 'over here' since metric flat stock is difficult to find. I got around that on the Jan Ridders engine, will likely have to model parts of this to see what changes to make in shafts etc. I have lovely metric hardware to use up.....

As in most Monitor builds, I'll be interested in seeing this one come together.

I think I was the one that started a monitor build and got a number of members building one.

They were successful. Mine is still sitting, unfinished, on my bench.  ::)

If it is on your bench then it is close enough to being worked on. What can we do to egg you on??  :stir:

A little more progress.
the 3mm material arrived yesterday so it was marked out  for part 1 ( part 2 is similar just shorter. I tried cutting it out with an angle cut off,  but had the wrong blade,  still its  progressing and a new blades been ordered.
the really good news is   Black friday saw me  purchase a new lathe ok its a chinese clone  type  but  all the  vids on you tube show how you can get them  to  play  nicely
