Hi Jo, Gday Tel, because YOU didnt tell me this one was up and running....

I was up your way the other weekend, on my way to Sydney....thought of you as I passed the Macca's carpark.... (where Tel and I first met up).

I wont be a regular contributor as work (still) has me over a barrel but it looks to be a nice palce to drop into, it does have all the names I recognise (howdy all)... looking forward to a metal 'fix' while Im away from my shop....

It's really nice to see our members from the colonies getting together.

It must be really awful for you all, living so far apart, when someone like myself only has to go around the corner to be falling over other model engineers.

But at least, by using this site, you get together and be known to each other, and maybe show us something we haven't seen before.

Welcome Artie  :hi:

If only :-\ even in the UK Model engineers don't grow on trees, the nearest one (I know about) is about 20 miles away.   So should the south of England now count as a Colony ;)?

Lofa bread be damned, it's a 120km round trip to and from my workshop, besides it wouldn't fit in our backyard, ( the workshop not the bread).

My deepest sympathies :hellno:, I sleep less than 10ft from one of my lathes .  As for bread, I make my own :stir:, I have to go 8 miles for the flour (or milk) does that count  :naughty:?

What you have to realise Jo, engineering started in our neck of the woods, you lot 'darn sarf' only caught the bug when you saw us lot enjoying ourselves so much.

It truly is in Northerners blood.

And yes, when it comes to model engineering, you are one of our colonies.
