Jon's Odds & Ends Hit n' Miss Engine
« on: November 10, 2018, 11:48:39 PM »
I finally finished my Odds & Ends Hit n' Miss engine taken from Phil Duclos' book.  I made a few modifications to his plans (assembled crankshaft, ball bearing cam follower, ignition points, etc.) but basically followed his plans.  I asked for advice on the forum a few times and I really appreciated the responses.  I had asked for a source for timing gears and among the responses someone said to make my own so I bought some more tooling and made the gears and they work very well.  Thanks.  As my second engine and the first from bar stock and the first IC this has been a real learning experience.

I built the ignition system using a small coil-on-plug coil from a Jeep and built the coil and condenser into the engine base.  I power it from an external 12VDC supply (or battery) so as to keep the ignition system as small as possible.

The video (I hope):  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_dpUtfRYK0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_dpUtfRYK0</a>
