I received an email from Flickr today announcing that from next January there will be a limit.....

Free accounts will soon be limited to 1,000 photos or videos. Flickr isn't Flickr without the contributions and participation of our free members, and we remain committed to a vibrant, free offering.

Their Flickr Pro will cost $49.99 (£38.00) per year.

I have spent a couple of hours this evening deleting some albums and photos to get below 1,000 photos without affecting my posting on MEM.

Paying for your own dedicated server space and IP address is cheaper than that  :disappointed:

Ade set up a free photo hosting capability for MEM members on the same server as the forum. Its on here: http://lister-engine.com/coppermine/index.php Let me know if you want the password to create an account

I keep forgetting to use it   :old:

Problem with going to your own server is it won't stop access to the old flickr photos being lost, so any old threads may not be worth following like when PB blocked all theirs. :(

Exactly which is why the sooner you become self sufficient in these matters the better  ;)

But what about all the photos I have on PB going back through 14 years of forum use. Do I pay for them and pay for a server or just pay for PB

I have never paid for Photosuckit. After their initial ransom attempt they have allowed them to be accessed again  :)

I've been paying about £20 a year for quite a few years as I obviously have a lot more photos that you, think there's over 5000 there now so did not get any problems when others were blocked.
