Well at the borderline of Glarus. That was up on the "Hirzli" looking towards Einsiedeln (which is not visible though)

Roger...what are the large orange drum shaped structures each with the angular white arm?. :facepalm:...I thought of snow depth indicators or lights?....some follow the road, but one is on a hill?

They are snow makers, like these:

The orange drums are padding to protect out of control skiers. The positioning is to match the winter pistes which are often different from the summer paths/roads.

Now I understand. They are snow makers not snow markers

I can also relate to 'out of control skiers'
