Model Electric Motors .......
« on: November 26, 2018, 06:51:50 PM »
Don't know what happen to yesterdays post, so trying again.

Anyway. Made some small motors from scratch in 2012/2013 with some inspiration from reprinted books for projects for boys years ago. These presented some insanity  :insane:
on getting them to work. Used what wire I had on hand for the coils since this was all a guessing game. All hand wound . All motors run with the one in picture 3 & 7 going over a thousand RPM. Rewound the armature 4 times before I got it right.  None have any real power and I run them on a 18V drill motor battery. Quite a learning experience !

Reminded me of a very simple motor my Dad made for me about 55-60 years ago. Dad was a maintenance electrician in the local factory, and was trying to interest me in following in his footsteps. I drained many batteries watching it run... Ended up with a military career in avionics, and a second career in computers.
