Latest engine PMR 3 BI
« on: September 13, 2018, 11:50:08 PM »
Hello folks it had been a while since i posted here. I purchased  this kit at cabin fever. I decided over the memorial day weekend it would be a good time to assemble it. I did it Sunday evening. The only problem is the 5-40 lock nut was missing. I assembled it anyway and it started on the first try. Last Saturday morning i went to the hardware store in attempt to purchase one. no joy . So came home and made one.

I have not had a lot of time to machine lately . Mostly work and time spent in addictive Hobby manufacturing.

They are !! This one i hope to find the Time to make a Lucite cylinder for it that way people at the shows can see the valve action.

The base is a piece of scrap pine from the table project . I just scored the boards in with a plastic cutting tool and a straight t edge

It looks good! Any chance of a video or something that shows scale?

Love the base, nice job, and that is a nice engine (the PMR #3was my first foray into this hobby).

Lucite cylinder sounds interesting, but the parts are awfully small and I wonder how easy it would be to see the motion.  Not quite as simple as the lucite covers we see on the engines with a steam chest, either.  Post some pictures if you give it a try!

Do not see why it would not work the piston is the same size as my other see through models.

Yeah, ok if you square up the side so there's not so much distortion, it would probably look pretty good.  And use clean oil.  :)

Or make a teflon piston then one needs no oil  :)

Sorry Tin. Actually the dime looks very real and I was hoping in a way they had come up with a miniature #3 I wasn't aware of yet 😊

I should have mentioned this engine was cast in that new high shrinkage alloy.  ;)
