Looking good Thomas!! Just thinking you might want to consider some way to lock the oil drain to avoid losing oil without knowing about it.

Hello Bill,

Yes you are right. That is why I added the pipe cap on the bottom nipple. I doubt that the valve could ever accidentally be opened, but Murphy's Law would surely get me if I took a chance. That will look better in there when I make and install the Brass Hex nipple. I am anxious to test the Engine so for now I will use what I have.

Have a great day,
Thomas

Hello everyone,

I have reached a major milestone on the Buggy build today. Yesterday I had added oil to the crankcase and this morning I added one quart of fuel to the Engine. After double checking all the necessary items I hand started the Engine and after a short warmup it ran perfect. Then I checked all the moving parts including the Drive Belt of the drive system and all of that was OK. Turned the Engine off and engaged the Transmission into the Forward position and re-started the Engine and again check all the drive components and everything was working perfectly. I am so pleased and relieved that all of this has checked out and now I can start reinstalling the complete Engine Frame back into the Chassis. I have attached a video of the test run.

Have a great day,
Thomas

It is the journey that matters, not the destination

Sometimes, it can be a long and winding road

Hello Roger,

You are so right, and yes I do have the beer crate and duct tape ( for safety ) with the cushion ready. If all goes well within a couple of days the Chassis and Engine Frame will be rejoined. :whoohoo:

Have a great day,
Thomas

Hello Mike,

Very well stated. Oh how right you are, no better feeling after nine months of work on a project.

Go ahead and book that flight, then you can help me finish the build.

Have a great day,
Thomas

That type of clutch and belt system was pretty well standard for snowmobiles in the 1960's and 1970's. It worked very well.---Brian

Hello Bill,

Thank you, I wish that I could say that I never had any doubts, however this system has worried me since the beginning.

Have a great day,
Thomas

Hello Brian,

You are correct and Polaris used them on their 3 and 4-wheelers and snowmobiles. The Ridley Motorcycles that were built in Oklahoma used this system also. They have a good track record of being strong and reliable.

Have a great day,
Thomas
