You are making short work of that list Thomas. It's really coming back together nicely now.

Bill

Hello Bill,

Thank you, getting started early every morning and almost everything going my way and not too many "hick-ups". I am going to upload photos in a minute showing completed work as of today which is now all Steps through 13.

Have a great day,
Thomas

Hello everyone,

Getting started at 2:am in the mornings allows me to get a lot of work completed before my old body gives out. Anyway I am attaching four photos showing the current status of the Chassis. The Front Axle is now completed and fully installed with only some fine tuning on the Tie Rods to adjust Toe-in and Toe-out. Now all Steps through #13 are now completed. Waiting on more bolts and nuts to start back to work on the Engine Frame.

Photo 1, front view with the competed Axle installed
Photo 2, close up of the Spring assembly
Photo 3, rear view of the Spring, Spindle, Tie Rod and Rack & Pinion
Photo 4, rear view of the complete Axle, Rack & Pinion and both Link Bars

Have a great day,
Thomas

Still following along and enjoying    :wine1: You have had your fair share of mishaps. I think you should add a cushion to the milkcrate to protect your back  :)
Best regards

Hello Roger,

Great idea and I'm thinking a lap belt for added safety

Hello everyone,

Yesterday I worked on the Engine Frame and installed all the bolts, washers and locknuts that go on the Closed Axle Flanged Bearings. Made a small booboo by not centering the Driven Axle before tightening all of the Bolts. No real biggie, tomorrow I can correct that before moving on.

The weather is hopefully clearing, and floodwaters receding enough for that upcoming test drive!

Keep up the good work, Thomas, it's coming right along.

Hello Bent,

Not to worry about high water, the Buggy has almost 11-inches of clearance  to the drive train.

Thank you and have a great day,
Thomas

Hello everyone,

Today I machined two new Spacer/Bushings out of some aluminum round bar and they are .7980 inches long. The attached photos will show where they go on the Rear Axle. The discoloration on the Axle is not rust, it is the protective copper coating (Cop-Graf) that I applied when I installed the Axle.

Photo #1, shows the Spacer/Bushing on the Axle next to the Flange Bearing
Photo #2, shows the Wheel Hub Adapter pushed up to the Spacer/Bushing

This arrangement establishes a “ set / fixed “ spacing between the Wheels ( tread width ) once the Axle is centered.

Have a great day,
Thomas

Hello Bill,

My plan is to (hopefully) get the Jackshaft and the Transmission mounted on the Engine Frame tomorrow. If that goes well, might even get at least one chain cut to length and installed.

Have a great day,
Thomas

Hello everyone,

Well I did not get near as much accomplished today as planned. Nothing seemed to go right starting with a factory defect in one of the threaded holes on the Transmission. There are four bolts that hold down the Transmission and one of the threaded holes had only a few threads which I did not discover until I had installed the other three.

Photo #1, shows the underside of the Engine Frame and my Hand Tap going into the Transmission re-tapping the hole
Photo #2, shows the Transmission with the Driven Pulley now installed and the Jackshaft temporarily installed

I did get all the Set Screws tightened down and all of the Key Stock cut to size and installed. I deserve a big relaxing drink tonight :wine1:

Have a great day,
Thomas

Progress is being made, so libations are allowable.  In other words, have two!
