Thomas--You are going to need an outboard bearing and support on the cantilevered end of the shaft with the pulley on it.---Brian

Brian,

Maybe...but, those units are made to hold up to the belt loads up to the rated hp.  Adding an outboard bearing will make it more difficult to replace the belt.

Hello Brian,

Yes you are correct and I have already built one, see the attached youtube video showing the unit. I posted about this unit couple of months ago.

Thank you and have a great day,
Thomas

Hello Bent,

See what I did on the youtube video I added to Brian's post. You will see that the whole unit can be removed so that I can replace the Belt and or the Driven Pulley with no problem.

Have a great day,
Thomas

Hello everyone,

Well another unexpected setback in my progress, but this time it is my fault. I read and “interpreted “ the required spacing distance needed between the inside of the Driven Clutch and any obstruction was to be a minimum of 1/2-inch. On my design I allowed for 5/8-inch which should have been enough. However, it turns out that the minimum spacing should be closer to 3/4-inch. So after considering many options I decided to cut a notch in the square tubing of 3/4-inch which is a bit more along with the already 5/8-inch. To close up the tubing where the notch was made, I cut and bent to shape some flat bar and welded it in place. Cleaning the area around where I torch cut and then spraying on two coats of primer took most of the day. I did get the first coat of black applied and will let that dry until tomorrow. It will be some time next week before I can start back installing the Transmission and other components.

Photo #1 & #2, shows the flat bar cut and bent to shape that was used to close up the tubing
Photo #3 & #4, shows the new “notched” area in the tubing

Have a great day,
Thomas

Hello everyone,

I am attaching another video showing all the work that has been completed to date, this is Part-15 of the build series. All of the modifications to the Engine Frame are now completed and final reassembly of all the components are now underway.

Have a great day,
Thomas

Hello Chris and thank you,

I am really getting close to doing and Engine run test. Bunch of small items like cutting to length on the Chains, applying Loctite to all the set screws ( man there are a lot of those ) and etc but no major items. I need to make a temporary Battery tray so that I can mount the Battery and make the cables to size. Most likely several more days and then the "big bang".... :lolb:

Have a great day,
Thomas

Hello everyone,

Just a quick update showing the Transmission, Jackshaft and both #40 Chains cut to length and now in place. Hand turning the Driven Pulley moves everything smoothly and that makes me very happy.  :cartwheel: :pinkelephant: :whoohoo:

Next up is to finish applying Loctite to all the set screws and double checking all bolts and nuts and then mounting of the Engine.

Have a great day,
Thomas
