3/32 BSW screws or 5/32 steel hex supplies
« on: August 16, 2018, 12:07:07 PM »
This is a long shot, looking for 3/32 BSW screws/bolts as used on some early Stuarts, failing that a source of 5/32 steel hex (4mm would do) to make some (all my usual suppliers only go down to 3/16)

8BA hex is only a few thou. different ( under IIRC )

You should be able to get that fairly readily.

8BA is 0.152  or 3.86mm   5/32" is 0.156 ish ...

Dave

EDIT Livesteammodels have 5/32

I might need to go there next week. Want some picking up ??

Kev: I have both 4mm and 8BA steel Hex sitting on the shelf if you are coming up this way and would like one.

I normally make my bolts out of stainless round these days and mill the hexes  :)

thanks for the info and offers, have just come to the conclusion to use the 8BA stock, noggin end also sell it so easy to get some posted to me.

not much choice but to machine them I guess but milling all those little heads does not sound fun bad enough having to machine the stock hex to size (I get board to easy)

cant help with that one, I did not know whit did sub 1/32 jumps all my taps and dies are in 1/32 increments from 1/16 to 1/4 then 1/16 jumps to 1"

EDIT: I could not have been more wrong, my little presto book says 1/64 increments from 1/16 to 1/4 then 1/32 to 3/8 then 1/16 jumps to 1"  Wonder if anybody still sells the 64ths taps and dies, maybe watchmakers still have them?
