Hello from West Wiltshire
« on: July 19, 2018, 10:14:06 AM »
I started model engineering in my teens. In 1969 I started a 5"g. 'Terrier' and completed it last year !! After a lifetme of blacksmithing (not horses) I returned to the machine shop to complete 'Gypsy Hill' and am now building the McOnie's Oscillating Engine. I have already read Ramon's postings and will be following his crankshaft methods. I enjoy driving steam locos.  Mike.

 :hi: Mike,

The McOnie is not a basic engine to start with so good luck.

As you have been working in this area I assume you have a well equipped workshop  8)

Hello Mike, we are near neighbours, i live in South Gloucestershire.
I too started a loco around 1969, it was a 71/4 inch gauge LBSC Tich , it took me 29 years.!!
Do you ever visit the model railway track operated by Bristol Model Engimeers?
Regards
Trevor

Hello Mike,

Welcome from another near neighbor in Southern Hampshire.

Are you planning to visit the Bristol Model Engineering Exhibition in August, it's only a few weeks away. We do not have a MEM stand as such, but a number of us will be displaying engines (mostly aero engines) on the I/C Engine Builders Group stand. It's usually a good three day show, and well worth visiting.

See you there?

Mike
It is the journey that matters, not the destination

Sometimes, it can be a long and winding road
