 Nice work Dave!
What kind of grinding wheel are you using?
I'm used to seeing the white "carborundum" wheels on surface grinders, usually a 46 grit for GP grinding. Of course this varies with material & hardness. Lots of options....

Great looking tooling block set up.

Hi John

Thanks for the nice comments.
The wheel is  46G aluminum oxide, if I remember correctly H hardness. I don't do a lot of grinding but this wheel seems to work great for most of what I need to do.

Hi Everyone

Well time kind of got away from me and I forgot to come back and finish out this build.

After the castings were primed they were lightly sanded and then painted with catalyzed acrylic urethane. The color is a custom mix that my coworker and I mixed up; we had some dark blue and some white, we did our best to match the Kurt blue. It is not an exact match but pretty good considering that I didn’t have to go out and purchase a tin of expensive paint.

Here are the parts ready for assembly; the nuts were painted black to add some contrast.

Starting the assembly process here are the two steel vises.

Here are the four vises completed, the camera did wash out the blue a little bit.

And the glamour shot.

This was a very enjoyable project, from the CAD modeling and drawing creation to all the interesting machining and finishing operations.
Thanks for following along, I hope that you enjoyed the build.
