I replaced all my tubes with direct wire LEDs a couple years ago. I have been very happy with them them for all the same reasons Chris has indicated above.

Bill that is a nice sized shop, it would be great to have that kind of space.

Chris, I will check that out. All of the fixtures are affixed to the ceiling with standoffs and rigid conduit between them. I would love to be able to keep the same fixtures. I think I can do the rewiring around the ballast if not too complicated.

Finding 96" single pin tubes seems a bit more problematic  :zap:

I'm on the side where you can't have too much lighting. It's easier to turn them off than to add them.
It's the one thing (well...amongst other things) that I'm disappointed with in my shop.
I had wanted twice the amount of LED tubes in the ceiling but got talked out of it.
T thinks it looks garish (or glaring) but I find the shop too dim.
Task lighting has helped but good overall lighting is much  more inviting.

As one gets older, it gets harder for the ol' irises to contract enough to see sharp. It requires lots of light.

On a different note...if you want to impress the ladies when they visit...keep the seat down.  ;D

I have some new hi intensity machine lights for all the machines.   Gets around the office pendant light I currently have.

I know life is better with MORE......but not tonight.

Tonight, Ive got some sipping to do.     Cognac distilled locally.....looking forward to that

Keep the pictures coming Bill!

It's funny you mention that. A few weeks ago, T started to walk in to the shop when there was swarf everywhere and I yelled at her to stop. She understood why. But ever since then, she barely pokes her head in to talk to me.

She's not the only one. Grand-daughter also won't step foot past the threshold (but she might have heard me 'let go' when I thought no one was around).
Yes...I know the dangers if there's open flame nearby.

P.S. The 'letting go' wasn't necessarily on purpose or demand...it's just me getting older.

Yeah I know Dave. Still thinking on it. May have found the replacement tubes from an outfit called Hyperion. Pricey but cheaper than new fixtures. And like you say they should outlive me.
