Don, I have an airline next to the lighted work chamber. There is also a plumber drop next to the big mill which can be used for both the mill and lathe.

The new LED tubes arrived today so I have been working on reworking the wiring in the fixtures bypassing, and removing the ballasts. The rewiring is really simple (if I can do it), and the results didn't disappoint, even though the pictures don't do it justice. I only got four tubes to try, two in the storage closet which has been lightless for a while (photo 1). Then one of the six two tube 8' fixtures in the main shop (photo2). That now leaves five more fixtures to go or ten more tubes.

You can probably tell the new ones are a cooler white than the old flourescents and without any doubt much brighter as well.

Hello Bill,

I can really see the difference with the bright green and yellow on the tractor, and even over on the new wall cabinets. You will be most pleased with that upgrade.

Have a great day,
Thomas

Thanks Thomas. It should get even better. The two fixtures over the wall cabinets haven't been converted yet. I will try to take a similar picture once they are though.

Meanwhile, I got a shelf added to one of the cabinets.

I still think white walls will make a big difference even then!  But the decision is up to you.  Painting is a hassle for sure.
The new lights look great!  The new lights I've added recently added are LED fixtures.  I haven't retrofitted any of the older tubes yet.  But sounds like the switch over isn't that hard, which is good!

If needed Dave. That swing down LED light over the Cowells and Unimat may take care of that. I had purchased an 8' new LED fixture as a possibility before finding just the replacement tubes which are a cheaper alternative. Since I have it I may add it to the ceiling to the left of the mill. That remains the only place that could use a bit more light.

Two more two tube fixtures changed out to LED tubes today. What a difference and the rewiring is a breeze. Three more fixtures to go. All the ones in these pictures have been changed.
