This afternoon I got the entry door and garage door painted. The color (even if it doesn't look it in the pictures is a very close match to the siding color.

And finally the bathroom now stripped down to bare studs. Work on the inside is now the priority!!

Wow what a major change, it looks fantastic!

Are you concerned about that tree being so close to the foundation?

Thanks Don.  Dave, yes it will come down this weekend most likely. It was needed by the roofers to tie onto to keep from slipping on the roof during installation.

Speaking of stumps, etc. I have several I need to get rid of and can't (or don't want to) dig them out. The termite guy suggested boring a hole (or two) in the stump and pouring in full strength Roundup. He says by next spring they will have already started to decay. I know there are a lot of methods out there. Anyone got any good ones you have used successfully. Since these are all close to the building, burning isn't a preferred option as I don't want soot on the new siding.

Hello Bill,

Shop look great!

I have rented a stump grinder in the past and it makes quick work on most stumps.

Have a great day,
Thomas

Thanks Thomas, but these are all way to close to the building for a stump grinder I am afraid. I have already got the cut flush to the ground, just don't want the root system to keep spreading, especially that one remaining tree which almost touches the foundation. Perhaps I should have said I want to kill the stumps...total removal isn't a necessity.

That look's beautiful, Bill!

Hope you can figure out how to kill the stumps.  Seems like some tree guy would know what to do for you (that would be my tactic :)).

I wanted to see you grind out the stumps with your mill. Turn the headstock around and have it hang out the window.....

Thanks Kim. I may need to contact a tree guy for some other work also. There are a couple of other trees I would like to get down, just not as close to the building, but close enough to be worrisome.

Chris, maybe the sherline, it's portable after all  ;D. Then again, the Roundup might be faster  :lolb:

 That last one hanging on at the side I would drop at about 1m high and dig out by hand and cut the roots. Those little seedlings will vanish quick enough if you deep drill and fill with round-up. If you want to do flowerbed you will be saying naughty words about the rotting roots for a while  ::)

We hope to be stump grinding on Tuesday  >:D

I do not like the amount of work involved in digging the roots out and are not keen on polluting the environment with roundup either …  … so I would probably do what is very bad to trees - put cobber nails into them  :noidea:

Copper nails doesn't really work  :disappointed:

Drill some holes, fill with round-up, then just keep the rain off it for a couple of weeks  ;)
