Small single solenoid farm engine
« on: May 11, 2018, 08:41:24 PM »
Hello,

At first, i'm still a frenchman and i still speak/write a bad english. Still sorry. ^-^

It's a very simple engine i designed last month. A classic single engine everybody know.
Just for the pleasure to watch it running on my desk. Solenoid driven, so no dust, no bad smell, no dirty oil drops, no complex procedure to start the beast.
Also for the pleasure to listen to the sound. Not a loud sound that would turn my neighbors to letal enemies. Just something sounding like a clock.
The monster weights 310 grams and finds his place in my hand.

I think i will make little brothers to sell them in a kit form.

Very clever little engine! I like how you made the connecting rod in two pieces. Runs very well, nicely done!

That is pretty cool. It would be a fun project and a nice gift.

That's very nice!
I'm sure you could probably sell a few sets of plans.

Merci à tous pour tant de compliments. :)

Now, i'm used to design and build my own solenoid engines. :zap: This one is my number 8.
I'll create new threads soon to show my creatures.
People think i'm a bizarre old man still playing with kid's toys.
In my country, there's not so much interest about this kind of hobby. It's better in UK or Germany, and of course in USA, where public events occur which show running masterpieces.

I'd love making a 4 stroke gas engine but for me, there's so much things and tips to learn left...

Pretty engine.  I've always been interested in solenoid and other electromagnetic engines.  The nice thing about them is you can run them indoors, endlessly without worrying about the smell or toxic fumes.

Hi Chuck,

I've watched many of your videos. Very interesting. ;)

The only inconvenient is the low efficiency. The lack of power on the crankshaft doesn't allow to run any device.
Though i have some ideas to get them off their useless status. :naughty:

Hagar, just curious as to how long it will run on one 9V battery?

Very nice little motor, Hagar.  I too like the split connecting rod idea.  And, your English is much better than my French will ever be :)
