Help with my milling fixture!
« on: May 09, 2018, 06:54:39 PM »
After joining the group, I went ahead and both an LMS 5200. Quite please with the machine but not so with the optional milling fixture. I thought I would have been able to do some basic milling but its use is difficult and limited to say the least. I find this addition along with the mounting plate very heavy and putting a lot of strain on the lathe not to mention myself. Repeated  parallel passes where not in register as my gibs were not properly adjusted from factory ,  my lack of expertise  with the lag issues and also a loosened draw bar added to my plight. Initial results were disastrous. Any tips, council  etc would be much appreciated.

I think that I have little choice but to get a dedicated mill but unfortunately I blew my budget for now by ordering 4 British engine kits today. In the mean time i would very much try my luck again with my basic set up....
Please be kind to me, as I am a newbie.

I’m not familiar with that milling fixture. Can you please post some pictures.
