Only a little bit done today..I had an auto accident on Monday !!! Not my fault as per the police !! I had 8 staples put in the top of my head...OUCH !!!  :o So my headache is just slight and the grandson was sleeping (long story) soo into my dungen I went for a little bit...

I only had time to make a BIG pile of bronze chips and a couple bushings....the chunk started out at 1.125"...seemed a waste all that bronze but it was a free piece... I didn't realize the expense of some of the metals until you actually have to buy it !! I get a lot of mine from thrown away bits.

Turning down to size...Bronze is some tough stuff !! I was using a black moly tapping / cutting fluid to lube, that made it cut to a better finish...

Hey, I just caught up reading your thread don't know how I missed it. I going to be pulling up a chair here, looks like an interesting projest. How do you like your Microlux lathe? I see you installed a 5C chuck on it. I was never happy with mine, but I still have it a use it less since I purchased a Myford.  I had installed DRO'S on my microlux they are a great help. Great job so far on your engine.

Thanx Dave...The bundle of joy wakes up no matter how hard we try not to !!!  Not always good thing when you're wanting to get anything done !! He just turned 7 months  :LittleAngel:  or not...

Don...So far I like the 5C chuck. Did you have the 4 inch or the 5 inch? Why didn't you like yours? I like the lathe ... I have put tapered gibs on and the tailstock mod, plus the carriage gear cover. I picked up a 12x24 lathe...but it still lies dormant in my garage !! Need to wire basement for it plus make some room for it. Then to get it down there !!!

I picked these up really really cheap...90% are Hardinge. I had my buddy make the rack, it also holds some of my R8 tools as well.

Looks like you're doing a fine job on this engine!  Just read through your thread.  What will the bore be on your scaled down engine?

That is a great find V, my Micrlux is a 7x14 and lacks rigidity. I have done a lot to try to make it more rigid, but I am still unhappy with it. I have a milling attachment for the lathe if you are interested. I don't use it and my mill does all I need. Also my Myford has a vertical slide for milling. PM me if you are interested.

I know it's not much but like wine it takes some time :)

Progress is progress. Nice bushings.

I could have used that 3/32 collet.  ;D

Thanx again all...
Don...Thanx but I have a mill as well.

I had a little time and made a kicker pedal...almost like my full size from one of my older bikes...I will polish it later with some of the other parts...wasn't real keen on making square holes that small !!

Well got tiny bit more done...the shaft and the turn-out ...I used 1/8" drill rod for the shaft and drilled and tapped for a 4-40 screw that I turned down on the lathe. This supposed to be all one piece but I made it three. Milled out the little turnout piece and drilled for a press fit of the shaft. All that is left is to drill the hole for the mount screw on the kicker arm. I don't have a good camera, just a dummy phone...lol
The grandson wasn't even aware of all the noise in my dungen...he had a good day as well !!

Good going V  - I hope that gash on your head heals soon  :)

I have some serious collet envy now  ::)

;) A couple of strokes with a square needle file could have those holes squared up in no time.

Kind regards, Arnold

Procrastination is nearly the same, but it precludes machining.
Thus, an engine will only be built once the procrastination stops and the machining begins!
