Facinated by model engines
« on: March 29, 2018, 12:04:33 PM »
Hi, I have been a member for some time but have not introduced myself. I posted a video of a Howell Twin that I completed and on Bill's suggestion, will introduce myself. I am a retired professor of chemistry living in the Gold Coast, Australia, and has been fascinated by model engines for a long time. After retirement, I purchased a Myford Super ML7, refurbished it, and learned to produce engine parts to the precision required for model engines. I enjoy mastering the techniques to machine different parts. This is the 6th engine that I completed. This include a 3 cylinder radial - also on YouTube.  Currently I am working on a Vega Twin. This is a twin cylinder, 4 stroke, glow ignition, aero engine. The challenge is to build a RC plane as well as the engine and fly it.

Thanks so much for the intro corrad, and a belated welcome to the forum. Sounds like retirement has kept you busy in the shop and I am also looking forward to that very soon. Please feel free to post pictures or videos of your other engines as well.

Bill

Hi Corrad,
Welcome to the forum, great to see more interest in ic engines.
I have a video of my Vega twin on here, my first multi cylinder effort which worked out quite well. I too would be interested to hear more about the castings Jo has (and where to get some!). Looking forward to seeing how yours is coming along.

Thank you for all the welcome's. As promised, I attach two photos of my Kerzel hit-and-miss and of my first engine - a small steam engine. Below are two links to two videos that can be viewed on YouTube. They are of my Howell Bill 4 stroke, running on propane, and of a Stirling engine.

Yip Bill, I too love its sound. The photo of my first engine - a small steam engine - seem to have gone missing. I attach it with this reply.
