Another Galloway 1/6 scale comes to life
« on: February 21, 2018, 07:32:41 PM »
Hope this utube  link works.  I have finally gotten my Galloway to do more than a couple "pops".  Most of my problems in getting a successful run were of my own making.  Plugged fuel line, mixer passage not drilled to proper depth, mixer needle valve too short to be adjusted.  It seems to be a good runner.  Now I need to fine tune it and paint it.  The coil was wound from wire salvaged from an old automotive air conditioner clutch.  In the video, I had connected another coil salvaged from an old DVD player motor for some extra boost, but I don't think it is needed as my homemade coil seems to be good.  Power is a 6 volt gel cell.  The cardboard disk taped to the flywheel was used for timing. Rick

Rick,
That looks and runs great. I'll have to quit fondling the castings I've got and put them together. Maybe after the next project.

Agreed!

A lovely piece of workmanship culminating in an exceptionally fine runner. Never made anything like it yet but it sure makes me want to

Congratulations on such a superb result

Here is my Galloway after painting.  I hope to tweak it a bit to see if I can slow it down.  I apologies for the background noise, I forgot to turn the radio off.
