Senft's Bijou
« on: January 21, 2018, 05:32:29 PM »
You could call this "unfinished business" number 2. I have wanted to make this since the Live Steam magazine with the plans for this arrived at my house in January 1974! Number one was Senft's Moyiya which I built a couple years ago. I have spent the last year and a half rebuilding a lathe so I have not done any engine building. Even though it is small it feels good to make something! The Gods of the floor claimed one piston and a crank disc.

By the way it runs like a banshee!

I think I will do Poppin next.

That worked fine. Movie files are normally too large to post or attach directly. That thing really flies

Great little engine  :)

Sounds like an aggressive bumble bee  ;)

I'd be curious to know how many rpm it can achieve.

Nice one. It's amazing how more challenging things become the smaller the engine is.

Nice engine PJPickard.  I understand the Gods of the floor too well with small parts.

Must be a regional thing - I always called the Gods of the Floor 'shop gnomes'!

Nice looking engine! Love the video, it sounds like a really angry bee!

Thanks all! Yes smaller does get a bit more challenging! At 57 I wanted to prove I could still do small work. Funny enough the hardest part was screwing the 00-90 screw into the pivot for the cylinder!
