Hey Kim

The pigeon holes are made form aluminum sheet metal folded in to a 3"x3" channel. then there is a flat piece on the top of each one that has a short flange folded down for each row. I would like to take credit for making them but actually they were part of a cart that held tubes of through hole components (IC's). It was scrap from work many years ago when we still had production in house. I took the cart apart and it just happened that everything fit on my shelf as you see it. The upper one that is stainless steel I picked up from a friend who scrapped hi-tech equipment as a retirement job. It's all welded construction but only 14" deep, just right for the brass and bronze stock.

Maybe now that sheet metal fab is part of my day job I should be thinking about what else I need for the shop. :lolb:

I like labeling things and having them in their place.
But when a new item(s) has to be taken care of...
If you allow for expansion...too much and you waste space...too little and you don't have the space.
Robert's tube idea might work for me. Particularly if I make the tubes move-able, arrange-able, etc.
Gotta keep the labels visible though.

As usual...the best answer comes down to affording a minion who provides you exactly what you want when you want it.
I'll never find a satisfactory minion.

Aside from the fact that I look more like the short minion...

The point was to 'have' a minion. Not 'be' a minion.

I minion I will not be.

Having said that...I'm currently a minion with respect to T (and a desire to be Jo's)...but that's as far as it goes.

I'm not stupid. There are advantages to being a minion.  ;D

Thanks for the picture of your storage, Robert.  Looks nice and compact.  Well labeled!  I like that!

Zee, I hope you can find your minion :)

Took a page from Jo and Jason...at a slightly smaller scale....mounted to the end of the roll around dirty bench are the 2 foot long pieces, and the bottom drawer of the bench has the "sub 12" pieces

That should allow me to get rid of the space wasting rack I have now which will give me some room......pictures to come...

That worked surprisingly well...though the draw is at it's max!...

That allowed me to dump the wasteful rack I had....SPACE!

Pictures in a bit....
