New year resolutions.
« on: December 31, 2017, 09:10:26 AM »
Finally we have made it to new years eve and I am pleased to see the back of 2017  :pinkelephant: As thoughts go to the new year I find a need to think about a new year resolution  It seems to get increasingly difficult as I seem to keep go back to ones I have tried before like:

  • I must try not to buy any more castings this year  :paranoia:
  • I must try to loose weight  :facepalm2:
  • I must stop cut down on   :wine1:
  • I must stop buying machine tools  :o
  • I must not spend as much time in my workshop  :toilet_claw: and try to take up more social hobbies  ::)

I wonder if I have got it wrong and I should look to reverse these from negatives to positives:

  • I should try to make more model engines than I buy casting sets  :naughty:
  • I should try to make myself look more  :embarassed:
  • I should plan to only drink Alcohol with friends  :)
  • I need to make a list of all the machine tools I want and sell a couple to make space for them  :???:
  • Socialise more - see resolution "3"  :mischief:

So guys how are you doing with your new year resolutions?

Jo

Hi Jo, another vote for 'make more engines'.

If it has to be from castings, it will have to be backed up by 'buy more castings', cause you have to have one set to make an engine.  Or perhaps buy more tools, say a blow torch like Jason's.  And fabricate the castings!

Not sure that there is no some lack of consistency in using plural of 'engine' in a sentence with 'one year'.

Come to think of it though, half would be more than this past year.

Only three and a half hours to come up with some more.

Jo, You missed out number 6

I will be retired by the end of the year :pinkelephant:

I have a letter that says not this March as hoped for   And of course we can't get at our pension funds until 55 now  :old:  :old:  :old:  :ShakeHead:

The good news is that we have new management as of tomorrow and of course the first thing new management always wants to do is rationalise the company :whoohoo: and did I mention I still don't have any paid work  :disappointed: more time to sit around (on full pay) dreaming of making swarf.

I might as well resolve to build a multi cylinder IC engine. That resolution leads into the second, spend time on CAD. The first two lead to the third, make more swarf.
