Hello,
Now retired with time on my hands, I have a very small shed with minimal equipment in it so far.

I worked for over 20 years as Jig-Borer and Horizontal Borer for the worlds leading aero-engine manufacturer (you guessed, it was R-R), eventually retraining as a Technical Illustrator and working for Mirrlees-Blackstone Diesels at Stockport, Britain's first diesel engine manufacturer. Now they were BIG engines (up to 18,000 BHP)!

I now build and fly i.c. powered model aircraft and have, in the past, been known to exhibit a 4mm scale model railway layout.

Nothing posted yet, but I've inherited a steam engine which I know nothing about, so expect a couple of photos soon, in the hope that someone can put me in the picture.

Are you planning on building your own engines for your aircraft? I enjoy making aero engines but I am not sure if I would risk flying them in case the plane nose dived in to land

Hi Roger,
In  answer to your questions - the name Beaver is due to me being a bit of a 'Beaver-freak': I just love those aircraft.

As far as milling machines go, I worked mainly on Cincinnatis, Kearney & Trecker and Adcock-Shipleys machines, then jig-boring on Pratt & Whitney, SIP, Newall and Oerlikon machines. I couldn't refuse the firm's generous offer of voluntary severance in the 80s, so I took the money and ran… straight to art college for a course (HND) in technical illustration - best move I ever made! It got me the job at Mirrlees-Blackstone Diesels.

I must admit that building my own i.c. aero engine is the main appeal, and yes, they do crash from time to time, but I'm also interested in steam (dad was a footplate man from 1921 to 1949) - it's in the blood. You have to learn to live with that

Wasp Junior radial engine, sorry I can't recall anyone doing a design for a model of one of those

A single row and also a twin row P+W Wasp engine was designed by Bob Roach in Australia and castings were once available form Bruce Satra over in the States. Sadly, both of these incredible an irreplaceable model engineers are no longer with us.

I think I may have a copy of Bob's Wasp drawings somewhere. You would have to make your own arrangements for the castings

Those finished radial and rotary engines are magnificent. They have a magic all of there own.

Just remember:

              Real engines are 'round'

I knew Bruce for a number of years. Having bought both the r-985 and r1830 castings that he did. Also the Morton m5. I believe Paul Knapp took over the castings. Not sure if he supplies the drawings.
