AOG’s version of Elmer’s number 4 the four square completed.

After a lot of fitting and fooling around with spring tensions it’s a runner. I will say that this is not one of Elmer’s better designs. The flywheel is too small so it doesn’t like to run slowly. Another big issue with this design is that the air passages are too small. It requires a great deal of pressure to run this engine (20psi) although the actual flow is minimal. The other issue is the spring pressure settings. One of the cylinders is right by the intake. When you apply enough pressure to he engine to get the top cylinders to work the cylinder by the air intake is blown off of the port face and acts as a relief valve. ( you will hear it blowing off in the video.) setting the spring tension becomes a balancing act between excessive friction and allowing enough air to pass to the other cylinders. Regardless of the minor issues, it's still a runner Tony. Some running nay lessen the pressure required. Nicely done in ant case.
