Kind of shot themselves in the foot didn't they. Still pricey, but sure less than the original offer. Sometimes competition and the marketplace work. I predict $79.99 before the end of march.

$30.00 a year was a fair deal as far as I'm concerned, any more than than that I'm going to look for something different; which reminds me, I need to work on getting some more of my pictures transferred over to coppermine.  :lolb:

Copper Mine is working great for me. Got everything over there now.

I liked that last line in the e-mail Marv got: "Thank you very much for your continued support."   :lolb:

I got an e-mail a couple of weeks back saying that unless I upgraded by the end of the year I would loose the 3rd party hosting that I still get as I pay for the "20" package. Went back to them and queried it as they had previusly said that it would be good until the end of 2018 and they then stepped down.

I also asked at the time if they could do a package with less storage than the "500"  but with 3rd party and they said no, seems like they have changed their minds.

Its now going to be a game of how far do you hang on and hope the cost comes down

If PB liquidated their complete business holdings and offered me the cash to come back, I'd tell them in explicit anatomical terms what they could do with it.

Ignore this post.  I was mis-reading their Terms & conditions. Sorry for the confusion.

[This was the original post if you're curious and want to read bad information! :)]
I hate to be a downer, but pBase also reserves the right to make you stop using them as a 3rd party hosting service, according to their Terms of Service:

IV. Other limitations of use
We may, at our sole discretion, issue warnings or terminate an account without notice for any of the following reasons:

Using your PBase account to host images, logos, or any other graphic elements from other Web sites.

So, while they may be allowing it now, they might start clamping down at any time and you have no recourse, since it states it in their terms here.

That's different from remote linking to images on the site.  That provision is to avoid copyright infringement.

Yes, you're absolutely right KVOM!  They clearly state that you can use pBase for direct linking of your photos to other sites.  And the price isn't too bad either at $23 for 2GB of storage.

I put a note on my earlier comment so as to not confuse people too much.
Thanks,
Kim

Hey Marv, I just got that same email - what I really love is the subject line to the email:

"Unlock your Photobucket images today with our new plan"

Its like they are admitting that they are holding the images posted before the change hostage, all chained up in the basement!

They don't mention if the price will be up or down after the 7 days, but they just sent this to me more than 7 days after they sent it to you!

I did use Photobucket but when they started blackmailing me with hefty fees I switched to Imgur. It's free, easy to use and the images are easily uploaded for use on this forum.
