1.5in Allchin Traction Engine
« on: January 02, 2022, 12:31:33 PM »
I found a set of castings and complete boiler for the Allchin at a bargain price on e-bay eleven years ago. The build went well and got 80% of it done when build fatigue set in. It sems to happen to many ME’s you reach a point where all interest disappears and the need to spark new interest lies in a new project.
However last October interest returned and decided to finish the Allchin, I completed the painting just before Christmas. At 11/2in scale it is a pleasant size to work on without breaking your back.

Another really beautiful model, the painting and lining is superb.  You must be very pleased to have returned to the project with interest, and now have a finished engine to enjoy.  Will you steam it at some time?   Dave

Gorgeous, Mike!  Love the color and paint job!

Congratulations on completing your Allchin.  I know what you mean about losing interest after a while and I'm glad you regained it and finished this wonderful model.

At 1.5" it's no small item!  What does it weigh in at?

Thanks for the kind comments, as to steaming probably not, I have had it run on air to prove the valve setting. I have not weighed it but it must be around 10 kgs.
I am one of those odd ME’s who get their pleasure from building models rather than running them, once completed it gets added to the collection, and look forward to the next challenge!

A beautiful model Mike, well done.  It’s a huge project to complete.

Of course you know we now want to see the video, even on air!

Not sure you're that odd - I'd say I fall in that camp too! :)
Then again, maybe I'm more odd than I realize  :embarrassed:

I second MJMs the request for a video!
