Flywheel turning on a Sherline mill

Has anyone tried this fellows method of 'getting by' when you can't access a larger lathe? Interesting setup. The biggest flywheel I've done with my Sherline lathe was for the MEM Corliss, scaled down slightly, was 6" cast iron. Did that with the headstock on the lathe turned 90 degrees, worked fine with light passes. His way looks like it could work for even larger ones. Tricky part is getting enough power when running the motor slow.
