The passing of Jim Gehringer
« on: November 02, 2017, 12:12:34 PM »
I am sad to see of the passing of Jim, last Friday. Known in forums as Jamesk815, and creator of Blackberry Models.
He had lived in Leland, Ill and later Sandwich, Ill.
He was a fantrstic machinist and pattern maker. He had designed and built the Sandwich model and one of the vertical IHC Famous. He truly will be missed. He was 73.
I will have to go to a real computer to provide a link. I did not see a memorial forum on this site.

Really sorry to hear of the passing of another modeler. If anyone has a photo of Jim please post it.

Hi

I attached a picture of Jim at NAMES when he was selling castings as Blackberry Models (he sold the business a number of years ago).

Here is link to his obituary:

Jim and I attended about 7 shows a year together with several other modelers.  He will be missed at the shows and as my good friend for many years.
We  spent many hours in each others shop comparing notes and solving the "worlds" problems (as is done in most shops).  Jim had recently moved
and this past weekend a group of 6 of us were headed to his place to unpack his shop, build shelves, and get him up and running.

Yep that's who I thought it was. What a nice man. I sold him a new holland kit a few years back. At the time he planned to build it.

RIP
