New toy for the shop elves (and me!)
« on: September 02, 2017, 08:48:29 PM »
The shop elves have been pestering me for one, you know how they get....

So, after one of our local RC boat club members passed away earlier this year (you are missed, Big Dave!    ), I picked up his Grizzly tabletop mill that his cousin sold me from the estate. Should come in handy for some of the bigger parts on the models that the Sherline mill has trouble swinging. Got a decent deal on it, came with two vises, rotary table, some collets, hold down set. So far I have not heard any bickering between it and the Sherlines, will see if the arguments start tonight, will probably have to clean off the drool from the elves...

Here it is, just got it carried in and set on a bench, need to reinforce the bench a bit and bolt it to the wall still. Should come in handy for the steam shovel and Stanley car projects!

Also has a much longer reach out to the table, have run into that (literally) a lot, when using the rotary table with offset parts to mill arcs at the ends of long/wide parts.

Nice score, Chris!

You'll have to show us a pic when it gets cleaned up and acclimated to its new place.

Congratulations on the new addition!

Hi Chris,
 You spoil those Elves!

Bet they are almost as happy as you are!

Cheers Kerrin

P.S I hope word doesn't get out or mine will go on strike!
